Tournament Rules
1. All CHA, OHF, NOHA rules shall apply.

2. Neck Guards & Mouthguards: Players are required to wear neck guards & mouthguards for all tournament games if their own district requires that they do in league play.

3. Each team will be permitted a maximum of 19 players, including goaltenders. No change in team roster will be allowed after the first game.

4. Only (5) members of the coaching staff are allowed on the bench at any given time.

5. All affiliated players must be declared prior to the first game played by presenting appropriate documentation.

6. Home team changes sweaters in the event of a conflict.

7. All games will consist of a 3-minute warm-up followed by:

U9HL and Tier1: 2 20 minutes halves straight time. Buzzer will buzz every 2 minutes.

U11-U18: 1st period x 10 mins 2nd period x 10 mins 3rd period x 10 mins.

8. Team handshakes will occur BEFORE PUCK DROP

9. Stop time periods for U11 and up. Timekeepers will start the 3 min warm up as soon as the teams hit the ice.

10. Round Robin Standings: Standings will be based on points: two (2) points for a win, one (1) point for a tie, no points for a loss.

11. Scheduled Game times are approximate. TEAMS MUST BE PREPARED TO START THEIR GAMES NO LESS THAN 30 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED START TIME. Teams not prepared to start at least 30 minutes ahead of their scheduled time, may receive a delay of game penalty or forfeit their game at the discretion of the tournament committee.

12. No overtime in the round robin games.

13. Tiebreaker, Round Robin: If tied in points, standings (seedings) will be determined based on the following order:

A) In the event that two teams are tied, the winner of the game between those two teams, if they played each other, will take the higher standing, If still tied then go to B. If three teams are tied, go to tiebreaker “C”.

B) If still tied, then the team with the most wins takes the higher position.

C) If still tied, then the team with the best goal average will take the higher position (N. O. H. A. FORMULA). In the event a tie exists between three or more teams, the goal average will determine the position of all tied teams.

D) If still tied, the team receiving the least number of penalty minutes in their three/four games played would take the higher position.

E) If still tied, the team with least goals scored against would take the higher position.

F) If still tied, the team with the most goals scored for would take the higher position.

14. Overtime: Overtime will only be played in playoff and championship games if regulation time produces a tie. All overtime periods shall be 3 minutes stop-time sudden death play

a. FIRST overtime period: 4 skaters + goalie, stop time, if still tied;

b. SECOND overtime period: 3 skaters + goalie, stop time, if still tied;

c. THIRD overtime period: Shoot Out: each team will designate three shooters to take one shot each. If still tied after 3 shooters, each team will designate another shooter (sudden death) until a winner is declared. No player shall shoot twice unless the player roster has been exhausted.

NOTE: all penalties will be carried into overtime. During overtime, teams can only change on the fly

15. All disputes, protests and misunderstandings will be reviewed by the tournament committee and their decision will be FINAL.

16. Any player receiving three minor penalties in a game will be ejected for the remainder of the game.

17. Any player who receives a MAJOR penalty shall be ejected from the game. Any player who receives a MATCH penalty or a penalty for Fighting will automatically be ejected from the game and suspended from the remainder of the tournament.

18. MERCY RULE: If at the start of the 3rd period, or any time during the 3rd period, a 5 point spread occurs, straight time will commence. Should the deficit become less than 5 points, stop time will resume. All penalties issued during straight time shall be 3 mins. in duration. If stop time is reinstated during the serving of a penalty, the time remaining will not be adjusted.

19. TIMEOUTS: All Teams within the NOHA shall be allowed one 30 second timeout, any time during the game. This applies to all games within the NOHA, including exhibition, league and tournament games.

20. For playoff and championship games, the home team will be the team with the highest seeding after the round robin portion in the tournament.

21. ZERO Tolerance: Taunting or berating of any players, officials, staff, or tournament volunteers will NOT be tolerated under any circumstances by parents, players, team officials or other spectators. The tournament committee reserves the right to eject any person whom it deems in its sole discretion to be acting in an improper manner and we accept no liability in connection with such ejections.

22. Referee’s Decisions: All referee’s decisions are final and may not be appealed.

23. No player, coach or coaching staff member is allowed in the on-ice officials’ change room.

24. In the event of a suspended game by way of forfeiture or forfeit, the score shall be recorded as zero for the loser and three (3-0), or the greater margin of victory at the time of the forfeiture, for the winner. a. Should a team who previously forfeited a game during the tournament be in contention for a playoff spot, that spot will be automatically forfeited should it come down to a tiebreaker whereby the goal ratio becomes the deciding factor.

25. Teams must bring with them their official branch issued team roster or player cards, along with proof of age and identity for all players.

26. Check In: One (1) team representative must check-in to the registration desk, no less than one hour before the team’s first scheduled game.

27. It is the responsibility of the Coach//Manager to inform the Tournament Chairperson (or their delegate) of all players who cannot be photographed.

28. Team officials are responsible for the conduct and supervision of all of their team’s participants at all times. No shooting, stickhandling, or passing of any objects is permitted anywhere in the facility other than the ice surfaces! Any pre-existing damage or severe mess in the dressing room must be reported immediately when found

29. Teams may be fined 200$ or ejected from tournament play with no refund or compensation of any kind if they are found to be responsible for damage to tournament facilities (including host hotels) or unacceptable dressing room conditions.

This is the responsibility of the team management to ensure this doesn’t not occur.

30.Dressing room policy : The Minimum Attire Rule To best promote inclusion and to respect the privacy of all participants on a team, Hockey Canada requires all participants to wear ‘minimum attire’ at all times in a dressing room or in dressing environments where more than one participant is present. This means that participants should arrive at the rink wearing a base layer (e.g., shorts and t-shirt, compression shorts and shirt or sports bra). A participant not arriving at the rink wearing their base layer can use an appropriate private space (e.g., private restroom stalls or empty/unused dressing rooms) to change into the base layer and then enter the team dressing room with the other participants.

31. Team Warm-Ups: Note that due to concerns with the safety of their patrons, the West Nipissing facilities do not permit ‘running’ in public areas of their facility.

32. No alcoholic beverages or “tailgating” is permitted on West Nipissing facilities property.
