Powassan-Sunday,
November 30, 2025- After a 27 day layover in regular season games, the question
going into Sunday was, were the Sting going to be rusty?
They answered that with a solid no! The
Ultimate Sales Sting would come out scoring early, and often as they trounced
the newly reformed Powassan Hawks team in their first meeting of the season.
Bruno Lafond (E. Restoule) got things rolling with his 12th goal of
the seaons to give the Sting an early lead. From there the Sting would add
three more in the next three minutes. Jacob Giguère (Fox) would score his first
of the year, Zach Serré (Lafond) would also add his first, and Michael Fox
(Davis) his 13th of the year. After the head spinning flurry of
offence, Powassan would get their first of the game from Charlie Young (B.
Perry and Leggett). Not to be outdone, the Sting would pot two more before the
end of the first: Noah Serré (Davis) and Hunter Seguin (Pilon and Pascoe). The
only penalty in the period went to the Hawks as Jaxon Dagg would sit for
cross-checking.
After
one, the Hawks would pull their starting goalie and replace him with Jace
Cullin. Although the Sting would continue their onslaught, Cullin deserves full
credit as he made numerous amazing saves for the Hawks. As it was a game of
first goals for the Sting, it is only appropriate that Jacob Pilon (Fox) would
score first in the second. Lafond and Fox would each pot their second of the
game, and then Michael Fox (Pascoe) would complete the hattrick on the power
play. To close out the second period, the Hawks would score two of their own.
The first by Lawson Whitmel (Mathieu) followed by a beauty by Charlie Young (C.
Perry and Leggett). The only penalty for the Sting went to Jaxen Beauparlant
(body checking). The Hawks would take two: Jaxon Dagg (cross-checking) and
Hannah Mathieu (tripping).
Even
with the game in hand, neither team stopped playing. The Sting would end the
game with three more goals. Bruno Lafond (Bazinet) would complete the second
hattrick of the game for the Sting, and Michael Fox would add his fourth.
Finally, Noah Serré (Lafond) would pot his fourth of the year. After the ninth
game of the season, Michael Fox still sits atop the player standings with 16
goals and 24 points, and Bruno Lafond is right behind him with 14 goals and 20
points. The Sting regained their hold of first place in the NOHA. Next up for
the Sting is a three game weekend. On Saturday the Sting will face the U 13
Vipers at noon in Verner. On Sunday they will play the Wolves at 11am in
Sturgeon followed by a 3:30 game against the U12 Vipers also in Sturgeon. All
games will be live streamed on Facebook.
