The Sting Continue Their Winning Ways Against the Cubs
Author: Nathan Pascoe

West Nipissing- Sunday November 2, 2025- Coming off an emotional double header on Saturday, The Ultimate Sales Sting had to regroup and get ready for a double header against the Nickel City Cubs on Sunday.

The first game of the series saw Lawson Restoule once again put on a show. Stopping puck after puck while his team pushed the offensive zone, scored early, and scored often. Michael Fox (Lafond) scored his ninth of the season for the Sting to take an early lead, followed by Jaxen Beauparlant adding an insurance marker. Jacob Giguère (hooking) took the only penalty for the Sting, and Cooper Daoust (body checking) took the only penalty for Nickel City.

Scoring wise, the second period was all Bruno Lafond. The captain of the Sting scored his 8th and 9th of the year to give the Sting a 4-0 lead. Hunter Seguin assisted on the first of the goals. As the second period wound down, both teams managed to get themselves into some penalty trouble. Mikay McCool (boarding), Ethan Edwards (hooking), Cooper Daoust (tripping), and Tucker Robitaille (hooking) all took penalties for the Cubs. Ray Mowatt (Head Contact), Noah Serré (Cross-checking), and Emmitt Restoule (hooking) took penalties for the Sting.

The third period was rough for the Sting as they once again failed to stay out of the box. The only goal came for the Sting short-handed as Jaxen Beauparlant (Davis) finished a beautiful passing play from Ryerson Davis. Malcolm Sanche (tripping) and Jaxson Scarfone (hooking) were the only penalties for the Cubs. Simon Bazinet took two penalites for Head Contact (one a major) Ray Mowatt (Head Contact, and Head Contact) also spent some time in the box.

Game 2

The Cubs came out ready to play in the second game of the double header. Mikay McCool scored early as goalie Max Legault failed to squeeze the 5 hole on a shot. For most of the period the Cubs controlled the pace of play, and the Sting were on their heels. Max Legault, and his defense core made some great plays to keep the Sting alive. With 3 minutes left in the period, Bruno Lafond (Fox) would score his first of the game to get momentum back with the Ultimate Sales Sting. Blake Blouin (hooking) took the only penalty for the Cubs; Noah Serré (Body Checking), and Jacob Giguère (hooking) took penalties for the Sting.

The second period was, simply stated, good hockey. The only penalty for the Sting came to Gavin Pascoe who thought he was playing U15 and stood a Cubs player up at the blue line. As Pascoe sat for interference, the Sting penalty kill went into action. Micheal Fox grabbed the puck in his end, and skated down the ice, picking top corner and putting the Sting up 2-1. Cooper Daoust (hooking) took the only penalty for the Cubs.

The third period started off tense for the Sting. As they worked their power play, Mélix Dubois took a feed from Blake Blouin to even the game up for the Cubs. The leadership core of the Sting took over from there. Michael Fox (Lafond) scored on the power play, and then Bruno Lafond (Seguin and Giguère) added a second shorty for the Sting. Not to be outdone Michael Fox would complete the hat trick into an empty net to seal the victory for the Sting. After a busy weekend of hockey, the Ultimate Sales Sting skated away in first place with a. 7-1-0 record on the year! Next up for the Sting is the Bobby Orr classic starting on Friday, November 7.
