Nipissing- Sunday September 28, 2025-The Sting continue to iron out some kinks
as they dropped their second pre-season game in a row against the Copper Cliff
Reds.
The Reds rolled into town ready to play,
and it showed with a quick 2-0 lead in the first period of the game. As Bruno
Lafond sat in the box for a cross check the Reds (Tousignant) made it 1-0 on a
pretty, cross ice feed. By the end of the period, they would score a second.
The Reds took one penalty in the first for cross-checking.
The
Reds would continue their offensive push in the game as Peters scored to make
it 3-0. As the second period wound down, there was a scary moment as Sting
captain Bruno Lafond was helped off the ice after taking a blatant boarding
where his head collided with the boards. Luckily, Lafond has a thick skull, and
he would be okay. The refs missed the call, and no penalty was assessed.
Penalties in the period for the Sting went to Lafond (cross-checking) and Noah
Serré (cross-checking). The Reds would take a roughing call.
With
their captain in the room, the Sting looked like they were ready to play. They
came out flying in the third period.
Ryerson Davis got his first of the preseason as he potted a beauty from
the circle. Shortly afterwards, Gavin Pascoe (Fox) would make it 3-2 with a
power play goal that floated over the shoulder of the Reds goalie. Just as
things were looking good for the Ultimate Sales Sting, the Reds scored (Peters)
making it 4-2. The only penalty in the period went to the Reds for
cross-checking.
