Iroquois
Falls-April 7, 2025-It was the rematch the U13A Ultimate Sales Sting wanted. A
chance at redemption, just a week away from being eliminated from the playoffs
by the U13 Vipers, the 4 and 0 Sting would once again face elimination, this
time at the TOCs.
The Sting had played their best hockey of
the year so far at the Tournament of Champions. They had won all 4 round robin
games, and would go into the Semis feeling good. The first period would start
slow for both teams as they were feeling each other out, good neutral zone
play, and a strong performance from Lawson Restoule made it seem like the Sting
would escape the first unscathed, but the last 3 minutes would prove to be
fatal for the Sting. Facing two penalties, the Sting were back on their heels, cue
the top two players for the Vipers. Dexter Jolley would start the scoring off
for the Vipers, wiring home a rebound that Restoule had no chance on. Then with
7 seconds in left in the first, Jaxson Tremblay would make it 2-0.
The
second and third periods were much better for the Sting as they dictated the
pace of play. Bentley Carmichael would score on the power play in the second,
and it looked numerous times like the Sting would tie it up. 3 times Kazz
Renaud-Paquette would break in on his own, and each time the Vipers goalie
Brennar Kistelmaker stood tall. With 7:36 left in the third, Trypp Owens would
score to make it 3-1 for the Vipers, and that’s where the game would end. A
heartbreak for sure. The Vipers would go on to win silver at the tournament,
falling to the host Iroquois Falls Eskimos.
The
Sting would like to thank all the players, fans, coaches, parents, and
sponsors. Without everyone working together we could not have had the amazing
year that we did. Anyone interested in trying out for next year’s rep team
should go on the Sting website/Facebook page to register for the upcoming
Spring tryouts.
