Sting EEK Out a Win Against the Gold Kings
Author: Nathan Pascoe

Iroquois Falls-April 4, 2025- The U13A Ultimate Sales Sting continued their winning ways against the South Porcupine Jr. Golden Kings.

The first two periods were the same. Both teams played a neutral zone trap as they pushed into the offensive zones. Each team would get their chances, but both goalies stood tall. This was the first start for Jake Leblanc after getting pulled in the playoffs, and he did great. The referees were not taking any nonsense, sending both players from both team to the box.

The third period is when the fun started. With 5 minutes left in the game, the Golden Kings took advantage of a too many men on the ice penalty and squeaked a puck past the skate of Leblanc. Just as things started to look bleak, the Sting dug in a pushed for a tie. The goal came off of the stick of Kazz Renaud-Paquette who shot a puck off the shoulder of the goalie and into the net. The ref did not initially call a goal, but after a conference, a good goal was called. The game looked fated to end in a tie, but Michael Fox stopped chopping salad and shot the puck towards the goal. With 40 seconds left in the game, the Sting would skate away with a 2-1 win.

Player of the game for the Sting was Bruno Lafond. The next game for the Sting comes tomorrow morning at 8:30am against the cross-division rivals, the North Bay Trappers. Join us on Facebook for the call of the game.
