Iroquois Falls-April 4, 2025- The U 13A Ultimate Sales Sting have a bad habit of giving up the first goal, but this time it was the Sting who would strike first and maintain that lead for the rest of the game.
Tournament of Champions is always a bittersweet moment for players, as it means the year is over, and friends will be moving onto new teams next year. The Sting are looking to go out on a high note, and Jacob Giguère got the show started for the Sting as they looked sluggish against the Manitoulin Panthers. After Giguere’s goal, the team played almost 7 minutes in their own end, but each time the Panthers pushed for th net, Lawson Restoule was there to bail them out. As the period wound down, refs called offsetting minors to the Sting and the Panthers, to which the Panther player had a few words for the ref. The Panther player would take an unsportsmanlike penalty, and Kwinton Rochefort would make it 2-0.
The second period would be dictated by penalties. First the Panthers would score to make it 2-1, and then the captain, Kazz Renaud-Paquette would score a shorthanded goal as Jaxen Beauparlant served 4 minutes (unsportsmanlike conduct and tripping). The period would end 3-1.
The third period ended up being a lot more tense than it needed to be. As the double minor penalty would down, the Panthers jumped on a rebound and made it 3-2. The rest of the period would be a clinic in neutral zone play. With 3 minutes left in the game, Kazz would cut hard to the net, scoring his second of the game, and cementing the 4-3 win for the Sting.
Player of the game for the Sting was Kazz Renaud-Paquette. Next up for the Sting is South Porcupine at 4pm today. You can catch the game live on Facebook.
