Nipissing-Saturday, March 29, 2025- The U13A Ultimate Sales Sting’s season
ended on Saturday after they faced a loss at the hands of the U13A Vipers.
. It was not what anyone wanted, but the
Sting were eliminated in NOHA playoff action after finishing 5th in
the round robin of the playoffs. The Sting started the first period off strong,
skating well, passing the puck, and looking confident. Dexter Jolley of the
Vipers took the wind out of the Sting’s wings as he put in a one timer from the
circle to make it 1-0 Vipers. Each team would take 2 penalties in the period:
Justin Richard (too many men), Simon Bazinet (Slashing), Ethan Cloutier (head
contact), and Ethan Brookes (Body Checking).
The
second period was tough for the Sting who had a hard time to get their feet
moving. They would end up playing most of the period in their own end. The
Vipers would pot the first three goals of the period: Ethan Clouthier (Butineau
and Macfie), Jacob Danhier (Craig) and Jaxson Tremblay (Seguin and Boutineau).
Just as the Sting seemed down and out, the captain changed the momentum. Kazz
Renaud-Paquette would drive end to end getting a shot on goal, Peyton Restoule
would benefit from the drive making in 4-1 to end the second. The only
penalties came to Zack Serré (tripping) and Michael Fox (tripping).
Between
the period the coaches had a simple message. You all deserve to be here, play
hard, and do your best. The Sting did that. The Sting dictated the pace of play
for the period, but they just ran out of runway, and had too big of a hole to
climb out of. The only goal of the period came from Simon Bazinet
(Renaud-Paquette and Lafond). As the buzzer sounded on the season the Sting
would fall 4-2 and be eliminated. Penalties in the period came to: Ethan
Brookes (body-checking), Jaxen Beauparlant (body-checking) and Hayden Commanda
(hooking).
The
NOHA season is over, but the Sting will have one last chance for glory as they
head to Iroquois Falls this coming weekend to participate in the Tournament of
Champions. All games will be broadcast live over Facebook.
