Tied Game Ends the Sting Win Streak
Author: Nathan Pascoe

West Nipissing- February 23, 2025- The 7 game win streak of the U13A Ultimate Sales Sting came to an end Sunday as the visiting Vipers pulled off a third period tie thanks to some bad penalties by the Sting.

The game started right for the Sting as the captain, Kazz Renaud Paquette took a great feed in behind his net from Kwinton Rochefort and skated up the boards with it. At the opposing blue line he chipped it around the defender, and cut for the net scoring to make it 1-0 for the Sting. It looked like the Sting would have an easy go of it again, but then Jaxen Beauparlant took a minor for bench interference as he repeatedly swatted at Viper players as they skated by. Although the Sting, thanks to amazing goaltending by Jake Leblanc would kill it off, the momentum shifted to the Vipers, and the Sting would play back on their heels. Other penalties in the period were to Peyton Restoule (tripping) and Ethan Clouthier (interference)

The second period would start off the same way as the first would end, with a bad penalty from Beauparlant. This time he took a cross-checking call after the whistle. A few seconds into the infractions, Dextex Jolley (Seguin and Brooks) would tie the game up. From there it was all about the power plays. The Sting would score two goals on a 5 on 3 as Kwinton Rochefort (Renaud-Paquette and Fox) would wire home his 13th of the season, and Kazz Renaud-Paquette (Fox and Rochefort) would add his second of the game and 21st of the season. With 4 minutes left in the period Antonio Seguin (Butineau and Jolley) would make it 3-2. Penalties for the Sting came to Jaxen Beauparlant (cross-checking) and Phélix Guénette (tripping). The Vipers would take 3: Jacob Daniher (body checking), Jaxson Tremblay (hooking) and Jacon Daniher (boarding).

The third period was an end to end affair, with the only maker coming for the Vipers’ Dexter Jolley. Kwinton Rochefort thought that he had given the Sting the 4-3 lead, but his goal was called back for offside. The only Sting penalty was to Gavin Pascoe (tripping). The Vipers made three trips to the box: Kale Craig (tripping), Antonio Seguin (slashing) and Jaxson Tremblay (tripping). With the tie, the Sting would need a perfect week next week. They will take on the U12 Vipers in their final clash of the season. The game will be broadcast live from Sturgeon Falls starting at 2pm on Saturday March 1, 2025. No player of the game was awarded, but special mention goes out to Simon Bazinet who had an amazing game and skated well out there.
