Author: Nathan Pascoe

East Nipissing-February 8, 2025- The U13A Ultimate Sales Sting had everything going for them as they cruised to a dominating 8-1 win over the U13 Vipers on Saturday afternoon.

This is the fifth consecutive league win for the Sting who did not allow a difficult tournament this past weekend to slow them down. The first period started off with the Sting doing exactly what the coaches asked them to do, skate, skate, skate. It was Noah Serré who got the Sting started when he drove hard at the net and put a backhand shot on goal. The Vipers goalie made the original save, but Peyton Restoule (Noah Serré) jumped on the rebound to make it 1-0. Jaxen Beauparlant would make it 2-0 thirty seconds later as he also shoveled home a Justin Richard rebound. The Vipers would take two penalties (Quinn Butinear (tripping) and Jaxson Tremblay (body checking)). While on the power play, defense man Kwinton Rochefort would go end to end, potting his first of the night on a gorgeous bar down attempt. The Sting would take no penalties in the first.

The Sting would continue their dominance in the second period. Kwinton Rochefort would take a hard shot from the point to add his second of the game making it 4-0 and shortly after Zach Serré (Gavin Pascoe and Kazz Renaud-Paquette) would make it 5-0. With the Vipers down 5 they would replace goaltender Aidan Harrison with Brenner Kistermaker. As the period wound down, the Vipers would score their only goal of the game as Brock Minogue (Malcolm Collins) drove the crease. The only penalty in the period came to Jaxen Beauparlant (cross-checking).

The third period would be slightly more chippy with both sides taking a few penalties, but it was the Sting who would pot the only three goals. Kazz Renaud-Paquette started the period off by doing what he does best, controlling the puck and shoveling it past goaltenders. As both teams killed off penalties, the Sting would end the period with goals 15 seconds apart. Noah Serré would score first, and then Kazz Renaud-Paquette (Noah Serré and Ryerson Davis) would get his second of the game. Penalties for the Vipers went to Ethan Clouthier (body checking and body checking) and Malcolm Collins (body checking) Gavin Pascoe (boarding) and Michael Fox (roughing) would take penalties for the Sting. The player of the game was Kwinton Rochefort. Next up for the Sting is the North Bay Trappers on Saturday, February 15 at 11:00am in Sturgeon Falls. And the Sudbury Wolves on Sunday, February 16 in Sudbury at 12:15pm.
