Sault Ste. Marie- January 31, 2025
The U13A Ultimate Sales Sting dropped their second consecutive game at the Sault Pee Wee Extravaganza tournament as they faced off against the Sault Ste Marie Reds.
The first period started well for the Sting as they got the coaches message after the first game. They simply needed to skate more. Even with their strong skating, the Reds were able to take a 1-0 lead off of a top corner shot that beat goalie, Jake Leblanc. As the period was ending the Reds would make it 2-0 as Bruno Lafond was skating in behind his net and had the puck stripped from him. There were two Reds penalties in the period, and none to the Sting.
Thew second and the third periods would continue the Sault onslaught as they would pot five more goals, the final tally would be 7-0. The Sting took two penalties in the game. The first was to Bruno Lafond for tripping, and the second was to Pierre Lafond for misconduct. Pierre Lafond was issued a three-game suspension following the tilt.
The player of the game for the Sting was Phélix Guénette who had a strong showing for the Sting. The Sting play two games tomorrow. The first is against the Sault Ste. Marie Sandstorms (2:30pm), the second is against the Sault Ste. Marie Steelheads (9:00pm). In order to make Sunday, they need to win both games.
