Nipissing- Saturday, December 14, 2024- The Vipers came out to play, the Sting
did not, and the result was a resounding defeat for the U13A Ultimate Sales
Sting.
After the high of going to the semifinals
in the Pre-Christmas bash the Sting were not prepared for the onslaught of the
top seeded U12 Vipers. The first period started off with the Sting defense
being caught flat footed and the Vipers, Félix Paquette (white) potting the
only goal of the period. The one positive of the period was that the Sting
managed to stay out of the box, with the only period coming on a bench minor
(served by Cédric Gagné).
The
second period would have the Sting start off on a slow start. As Marshall
Brooks scored in the first minute of the period. This set the Sting on their
heels, and they would spend the rest of the period hemmed in their zone. It
looked like the Sting would get out of the period only down 2-0, but The Vipers
potted one of the power play as goalie, Jake Leblanc had fallen in his crease
allowing Blake Bechtel to score his first of the season. Penalties for the
Sting in the period came to Phélix Guenette (hooking) and Kwinton Rochefort
(tripping). The Vipers took one to Wolf White for holding.
The
third period is where it got away from the Sting as the Vipers would score
five. Bradley Marshall scored three for the Vipers, and Félix Paquette and
Blake Bechtel each added one as well. The Sting will get a chance of going into
the Christmas break with a win tomorrow as they take on the Sudbury Wolves in
Sturgeon Falls at 12:30. If you can’t make the game it will be broadcasted
live.
