Nipissing-December 7, 2024- What a difference 24 hours made for the U13A
Ultimate Sales Sting.
After facing a difficult loss in the
tournament opener things turned around for the Sting as they faced off against
the U13 Vipers. The Vipers had taken the first two games in regular season
play, but that streak would end here along with the Sting’s losing streak. The
Vipers scored their only goal of the game on their first shot of the game as it
squeaked past goaltender Lawson Restoule. From there he shut the door, and the
Sting took control of the game. Kazz Renaud-Paquette tied the game up 2 minutes
later a beautiful shot in tight. The Sting took 1 penalty in the period, while
the Vipers took 3.
The
second period was all about neutral zone control as the Sting shut down the
Vipers time after time as they tried to enter the zone. This could prove to be a turning point for the
Sting as they realized how good they can be. Any time the Vipers got through
the defenders, there was Restoule standing tall in his crease. Each team took a
penalty in the period.
The
third period would be all Sting as Kazz Renaud-Paquette once again potted a
goal to put the Sting up 2-1. The Vipers would try to tie it up, but the
superior play of the Sting would limit them to very few scoring chances.
Finally, Kwinton Rochefort would seal the deal with a beauty rising goal shot
from the high slot. The Sting would win by a final score of 3-1.
The
player of the game was goaltender Lawson Restoule!
