East
Nipissing- December 6, 2024- The U13A Ultimate Sales Sting faced their 8th
straight loss in the opener of the East Nipissing Pre-Christmas bash
tournament.
They were facing the top seeded team, the
U12A Vipers. The Sting started the period off well with scoring the first goal
of the game. Zach Serré potted his first of the tournament as he grabbed the
rebound off of Gavin Pascoe who had crept in at the point. The Sting would hold
their lead for 4 minutes before the Vipers would even it up when Wolfe White
stepped around a flat footed defender of the Sting making it 1-1. There were no penalties in the period.
The
Second period started off rough for the Sting as Cédric Gagné took a 4 minute penalty for head contact. The
Sting, which has excelled this year at the PK did an admiral job killing off
three and a half minutes before the Vipers took their own head contact penalty
to even it up 4 on 4. The Vipers would scored short handed as the Sting were
about to start their abbreviated power play. The only goal for the Sting came
from the speedy Peyton Restoule who cut hard to the net to shovel home a
rebound from captain Kazz Renaud Paquette.
The
Sting had played the perfect game up until the third period, but then their
emotions got the best of them, and they had a steady stream of players into the
box. The Sting would take 6 penalties in the period to the Vipers three. The
nail in the coffin came when Jaxen Beauparlant was sent to the box for a double
minor head contact. On the ensuing power play, the Vipers once again caught a
Sting defender flat footed and potted the game winning goal at 8:10 of the
third. The Vipers would add an empty netter as time expired for a final score
of 4-2.
